I have had a packet of 1/4 inch hexagon papers for quite some time now ... I think someone challenged me to try my hand! All my attempts with these 1/4 inch pieces have been failures ... I've tried stitching and gluing but the results were less than encouraging.
Then at the July RedBerry meeting our guest quilter was a young woman named Paula Storm and she showed us her technique for applique and english paper piecing. She uses a starch mixture and her own design 'Applique Brush' to apply the starch to the fabric and then she sets the edge using the small clover iron. So I bought one of her pens and mixed up the starch recipe, vodka included, and tried it out on some larger hexigons .... it works a treat. Then I decided to try the 1/4 inch size and to my surprise it also works a treat!!!
I made up a little aqua flower ..... and included the 20c piece so you can appreciate how small it is!!
