Abstract Design Comes to Life

I have just completed my Challenge piece for the South Coast and Country Quilters Guild Show at Batemans Bay in a couple of weeks.  The Challenge theme is 'I See Red' and I decided this would be a great opportunity to make one of my abstract designs .....

The pieces are fused and machine appliqued using my newly found skills.   I used a mix of my own hand dyes together with a couple of batiks.

I recently purchased a copy of Angela Walters new book ..'Shape by Shape Free-Motion Quilting in digital form  and this Challenge provided the perfect opportunity to try out one of her new designs... I chose the wavy variation of the Serpentine border design  and it was quick, easy and very adaptable .... especially as I had made the lower border wider than the others!!  Just love this quilting design ... it will be one I will use again!!

If you are looking for lots of great designs and ideas for variations for free motion quilting then check out Angela's new book.  I know it will be my go to reference for quilting  .... my hard copy is on its way!
