Return and RedBerry Blocks

My apologies for being AWOL for the first half of this year .... my art quilting adventures seemed to take over ....  lots of design classes and then starting work on my first series!!   While my textile art is still my main focus,  I have recently been working on a number of  more traditional projects, some as part of my involvement in the RedBerry Quilting Group.

I recently developed a couple of  blocks based on the classic square in square design,  which I have always loved.  The first one adds a border strip and incorporates a little wool applique .......

and the second one,  a stem stitched design ......

These blocks are for the RedBerry Quilters, Block of the Month Challenge.  Simple to make especially if you use foundation piecing.  This technique ensures perfect points and consistent sizing making assembling the quilt so much easier especially when there are many contributors!!

  1. What a great way to either embroider yourself or use embroidery pieces from old linen. You have me thinking...but with a grandbaby almost here, I am concentrating on other stuff at the moment
